The Old Market Hall, Digital Media Centre
Client: Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council
The Old Market Hall is a Grade I listed and Scheduled Ancient Monument medieval stone building at the heart of the market square in Shrewsbury. The existing building was derelict and included on English Heritage’s Buildings at Risk Register. Arrol and Snell were appointed as Conservation Architects for the repair and restoration of the building. Glenn Howells Architects were appointed to fit-out the space as a cinema and a cafe plus the installation of a glass lift within the under croft.
Helen acted as project lead for the design and delivery leading discussions with the Local Planning Officer and English Heritage to ensure a successful scheme. Complex approvals required due to its status as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
